Principal’s Message

Welcome to Grand Mound Elementary. GMES is an elementary school serving grades 3, 4, and 5 in the rural community of Rochester. It has a great team of skillful teachers that care deeply for their students and families. It is a fabulous place for students, teachers, and families to work, learn and grow!

GMES has high expectations for our students and believes strongly in employing a growth mindset around meeting those expectations. In addition to the basic academics taught by our classroom teachers, we offer fitness, music and library specialists. We have interventions for students needing support, a HiCap enrichment program, ELL services, and special education for students who qualify for an individualized educational plan.

Parents often want to know what they can do to support their children’s growth in school. One great way is to be sure to get your children involved in reading. Whether your children are researching about destinations to visit, studying up on birds they observe in the backyard, or enjoying a new book series, finding fun and meaningful opportunities to read will be a huge benefit to their reading progress. Finding opportunities to keep journals and write about adventures or correspond with friends via email contributes to growing in writing as well. Check out our website for links to other learning resources!

Please watch the calendar on our website and our reader board that is out in front of the school. They have the latest dates on what’s up and coming, and we love to have our families involved in our school activities and celebrations. If you ever have any questions or need more information about how to support your child or become more involved at GMES, do not hesitate to call the school office.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children,

Kelley Bremgartner
